A Celebration of Wellness, Balance, and Global Harmony
The Universidade Católica Timorense (UCT) marked International Yoga Day with a vibrant and meaningful celebration on campus, emphasizing the importance of physical health, mental well-being, and inner peace — essential qualities for aspiring medical professionals.
The event began with an introduction to the roots and benefits of yoga, led by wellness instructors and student volunteers. Participants practiced a series of asanas (yoga postures), pranayama (breathing exercises), and meditation techniques designed to increase flexibility, reduce academic stress, and build mental clarity. Faculty members, administrative staff, and students from various cultural backgrounds came together in harmony to embrace yoga as a lifestyle.
Through this initiative, UCT not only promoted physical fitness but also highlighted the global significance of yoga in improving focus and resilience — two traits vital for future healthcare professionals.
