Shaping the Future of Global Healthcare

At Universidade Católica Timorense (UCT), academic excellence is the foundation of our mission. Our flagship MBBS program is designed to meet global standards while being especially suitable for Indian and international students. The curriculum is modeled on the Indian medical education system, ensuring familiarity, structure, and strong eligibility for international licensing exams such as FMGE (India), USMLE (USA), and PLAB (UK).

The MBBS program at UCT spans 5.5 years, comprising 4.5 years of classroom-based academic training followed by a 1-year compulsory clinical internship. The language of instruction is English, making the program accessible to a global student community. From the very first year, students are exposed to integrated clinical learning, laying a strong foundation in both theory and practical knowledge.

The academic journey at UCT begins with the pre-clinical phase, where students study core medical sciences such as Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, and Pharmacology. These foundational subjects are taught through a mix of lectures, practical lab sessions, small group discussions, and problem-based learning.

As students progress, they enter the clinical phase, which includes rotations in key disciplines such as Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Community Medicine. Clinical training is conducted in affiliated hospitals, providing hands-on experience under the supervision of experienced doctors and faculty.

UCT also emphasizes research and continuous assessment, helping students develop critical thinking and a strong understanding of evidence-based medicine. Our teaching methodology blends classroom learning with real-world application to ensure students graduate with confidence, skill, and empathy.

Through structured academics, experienced faculty, and a focus on holistic development, UCT prepares students to meet the challenges of modern healthcare — in Timor-Leste and around the world.
